About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking for a full-time Erosion and Sediment Control Specialist to join our team. We have offices in several locations in western Canada, however, successful candidates who reside outside those areas can be based out of their existing home, if preferred. Ecofor would fly the candidate to and from the job location for rotating work shifts (usually 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off with camp accommodations, dependent on the project).

You will collaborate with other Ecofor CPESCs and erosion control specialists, environmental advisors, client construction personnel, and engineering teams, to produce superior environmental performance for all our clients and projects.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating erosion risk based on site specific conditions
  • Erosion and sediment control planning for Ecofor's various projects such as pipelines, linear developments, and major construction projects
  • Assessing of erosivity factors, such as rainfall, runoff, soil type, and erodibility conditions on construction sites
  • Designing and assisting construction teams in the implementation of site-specific ESC measures
  • Preparing site specific Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
  • ESC Inspection and documentation
  • Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture

More About You

To qualify, you will need a CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control) designation, and at least 2 years experience in the field or in large-scale construction projects (e.g., pipelines, highways, civil infrastructures, etc.). 

Candidates with enough ESC experience to demonstrate that they are close to obtaining a CPESC designation, as well as the following certificates, will also be considered:

  • CPESC-IT (EnviroCert International)
  • CISEC (Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control)
  • CESCL (Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead)
  • ESCP (Erosion and Sediment Control Practitioner from VOI)

Moreover, candidates with Applied Biology, Geology, Engineering, Soil Science or any relevant degree, and working towards / close to obtaining any of the certifications above, may be eligible. Due to the nature of the role, you must also have a valid Driver's License.

In addition, the following skills, knowledge, and experience will be considered an asset:

  • ESC products and BMPs, their installation and maintenance
  • Certification or experience in related fields (environmental, engineering, hydrology, or geo-science)
  • Construction safety certifications
  • Background in the provincial and regulatory environments
